  • Schedules: Schedules will be released during the week of the team drafts. Parents will be able to view their player's schedule once they have been assigned to a roster. Teams in SRS (6U), 8U, 10U, 13U, and 14+ will typically be assigned 2 weeknight and 1 Saturday practice per week prior to opening day. Teams in SS will be assigned 1 weeknight and 1 Saturday practice per week.
  • Coach or Schedule requests: We will not accept any special requests for your player to include playing with a cousin, a neighbor, specific practice night requests, carpool requests, to play for a specific coach, or anything else not listed here. Players are drafted to a team and special requests will not be accepted.
  • Skills Assessments: Skills assessments will be scheduled prior to the week of the team drafts. A signup genius with the time slots will be emailed to all registered players the week of the skills assessments. The goal is for all registered players to attend the assessments but if for some reason a player can not attend the day of the skills assessments, she will still be assigned to a team, she will just not be eligible to be drafted by any of the coaches. She will be placed on a team at the end of the draft process - but she will be eligible to play.
  • Equipment needs: For SS players - a softball glove, batting helmet, bat, and bat bag. T-ball bats are permitted. For SRS and 8U - a softball glove, batting helmet, fielder's face mask, bat, and bat bag. Bats must be aluminum (alloy) only - NO multi-walled, composite, or half and half made bats will be allowed. Bats must have an easily identifiable stamp/logo showing it is a USA/ASA certified bat. T-ball bats are permitted in SRS not 8U. For 10U, 13U, or 14+ - a softball glove, fielder's face mask, batting helmet with a face guard, bat, and bat bag. Bats must have an easily identifiable stamp/logo showing it is a USA/ASA certified bat.
  • Uniforms: Every player will receive a team jersey prior to Opening day. Each coach will communicate what color pants and the socks each player will need at their team meeting. Rubber cleats, turf shoes, (or tennis shoes in SS) are only allowed at WCGS - no metal cleats allowed.
  • Concession Stand Option: You will be given 2 options at registration - to opt-out or to opt-in for concession duty. The option is ONLY given during the registration process -- once you register, there is no chance to change options. The opt-out option is a one-time extra fee paid at registration which means you will not be required to work the concession stand during the team's scheduled shift. The opt-in option requires the parent to turn in a deposit check (you must be able to turn in a check) which will be returned to the parent once they complete the team's scheduled concession shift.
  • Current travel ball players are not eligible to register and play in the WCGS recreational softball league. A current travel ball player is one who is registered on a roster and actively participating in that team's practices or games on a consistent basis. If a player is found to be playing on both a WCGS recreational team and on a travel team roster, they will be deemed immediately ineligible for their recreational team. For the fall season, this also means Metro and High School players are also ineligible.
