Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can I register online?
YES! This is the preferred (and easiest) way to register. You can make all your registration selections from the comfort of home, and even pay for all your registration fees online. While you may also register in-person (before the skills assessment), this will be also be done "online" by using a laptop at the park.
Do I need a PayPal account to pay online?
No, while PayPal facilitates our online payments, you only need a valid major credit card or bank account.
How can I "play up" to an older age group?
In order to play in an older age group, you must FIRST register in the age group to which you are eligible (by age). Then, you should attend the skills assessment for the OLDER age group and meet the minimum required score to play up. If you meet this requirement, your registration will be moved to the older group. If you do not meet the score, you can either play in your eligible age group, or withdraw. This selection should be made during your registration. For the Fall season (when we do not have skills assessment), the determination is made by approval of the majority of head coaches.
Besides the registration fee, what other costs should I expect?
The registration fee ONLY covers the cost of the player's jersey. Teams get together to decide on other uniform pieces (shorts/pants/socks/belts/etc), as well as if they want to have names added to the jersey, and order those together at their own expense. Equipment (see below) would also be an expected expense.
What is a "skills assessment"?
Held before the Spring season, this is where the players will run through a set of hitting, base-running, fielding, throwing, and (for older groups) pitching drills to allow the coaches to make draft evaluations. We hold a draft in order to help keep teams as evenly matched as possible. Players should show up at their assigned field/time and will be evaluated in "first come, first served" order.
What is the schedule like?
The practice/season/tournament dates are located on our Registration Information page. Our normal days of the week for practices/games are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. However, we do sometimes schedule "make-up" games on other days of the week. During the practice portion of the schedule, teams will normally practice 1-2 weeknights, and on Saturday. Once the season starts, there are no scheduled practices and teams will normally play games on 1 weeknight and on Saturday. The exception to this is our 19U (Slow-Pitch) division which does not play on Saturdays.
What equipment will I need?
- Glove (REQUIRED)- Everyone should have their own
- Cleats - Recommended, for safety
- Bat - Normally, there are enough bats to share, so feel free to try out the other bats until you find the size/model that works best for you.
- Batting Helmet - The park normally supplies 3-4 helmets per team, but most girls eventually get their own.
- Defensive Mask - This is REQUIRED for any player in the Pitcher postion, and RECOMMENDED for any other players. These can be found at most local sporting goods stores, and are also on sale in the concession stand.
